About the position

The Administrative Medical Assistant at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care and experience. This position involves collaborating with healthcare providers and other departments to manage patient communications, triage calls, and ensure compliance with regulations. The role is designed for individuals with exceptional customer service and clinical skills, contributing to a supportive and family-like work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and responds to triage calls on the nurse phone line, representing clinic providers.
  • Talks directly to patients on the telephone and directs their concerns to the appropriate provider.
  • Determines the urgency of seeing patients based on a brief assessment of complications.
  • Ensures accurate notes of all interactions with patients via EMA.
  • Communicates biopsy and lab results to patients or their representatives.
  • Obtains prior authorizations for biologics.
  • Arranges appointments for patients as needed.
  • Scans information into the patient chart.
  • Handles reports and prescription renewals as required.
  • Distributes electronic faxes appropriately.
  • Prioritizes work tasks and completes them in a timely manner.
  • Communicates appropriately and tactfully with staff, consultants, patients, and family members.
  • Responds timely to calls to reduce conflict and increase patient satisfaction.
  • Functions in the capacity of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within the scope of practice as required.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid LPN license or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of ADCS policies and applicable government regulations.
  • Ability to apply aseptic technique and infection control principles.
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to use it appropriately.
  • Skilled in typing and using computers, including Word and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a dermatology or cosmetic surgery setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
