About the position

The Medical Assistant position at Banner Health is responsible for performing administrative tasks that support the care team in delivering direct medical care. This role involves utilizing the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to assess patients' health status, identify care gaps, and ensure coordinated patient care. The position requires strong communication skills, as patient contact via telephone is a critical component, and it supports various primary care services across Northern Colorado.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chart review to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Utilize evidence-based guidelines to identify care gaps for preventative and maintenance care.
  • Use EHR to obtain medical information when communicating with patients or the medical care team.
  • Collaborate with the care team to meet expected performance metrics and clinical quality measures.
  • Maintain clinical skills and provide direct patient care as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • Graduation from an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required (to be obtained within 12 months if not in hand at hire).
  • Certification for BLS required.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with medical software.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments.
  • Knowledge of insurance and managed care operations.
  • Familiarity with EMR and scheduling software.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
