About the position

The Administrative Officer position at the Farm Service Agency involves serving as an assistant to the State Executive Director (SED) and providing advisory support on administrative management issues. The role encompasses planning and managing the administrative management program for the State Office and its subordinate County Offices, ensuring effective execution of administrative and program work, and directing operations in the absence of the SED.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the administrative management program for the State Office and County Offices.
  • Assist the SED in planning and directing administrative and program work.
  • Advise the SED on complex and sensitive administrative matters.
  • Direct all State Office operations in the absence of the SED.
  • Manage personnel, budget, and financial operations.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or US National status.
  • Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/59.
  • Successful completion of a one-year probationary or trial period.
  • One year supervisor/manager probationary period, unless previously served.
  • At least one year of administrative experience equivalent to the GS-12 level, demonstrating experience in planning, managing, executing, and evaluating administrative programs.
