About the position

The Pacific West Region is seeking summer seasonal Administrative Support Assistants (OA) at the GS-0303-5/6 levels to assist permanent staff with various administrative duties. These positions are temporary and typically start between March and May, depending on project needs and weather conditions. The role involves providing support in budget management, timekeeping, travel coordination, and general office tasks across various national parks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the division/branch receptionist, answering phones and greeting visitors.
  • Take, record, and distribute mail.
  • Provide budgetary, timekeeping, travel management, meeting coordination, file organization, and procurement support.
  • Use computers and appropriate software for data collection and analysis.
  • Prepare reports, forms, and tabular material with proper formatting.
  • Coordinate the division's budget and finance functions.
  • Prepare program documents and record expenditures from purchase documents.
  • Oversee supply functions including receiving and maintaining stock items.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Typing speed of 40 Words per Minute (WPM) is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-04 level in the Federal service, or 4 years of education above high school, or a combination of both for GS-05 level.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level for GS-06 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budget preparation and management.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and travel voucher preparation.
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
