About the position

The Administrative Support Assistant position within the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) focuses on providing essential support to the Oil Spill Preparedness Division's Response Research Branch. The role involves maintaining sensitive records, managing government property, and serving as a point of contact for various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and coordination in a non-remote, full-time capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the BSEE Ohmsett staff and the Ohmsett Contractor in support of facility operations.
  • Maintain sensitive records and files in compliance with established records retention management guidelines.
  • Serve as the Property Officer, maintaining an inventory and keeping account of, and providing routine and ad-hoc reports on government property located at Ohmsett.
  • Serve as a BSEE representative on site and point of contact for interactions with base and navy host command.
  • Recommend initiatives or actions to management that support timely and effective development and implementation of program goals and objectives in alignment with Bureau and Departmental strategic plans and goals.
  • Respond in person, by telephone, or by email to requests for information from BSEE management, the contract-operator of Ohmsett, National Weapon Station (NWS) Earle security personnel, Ohmsett customers, and the public while maintaining agency rules and protocols.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service for GS-07 applicants.
  • Must possess specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service for GS-09 applicants.
  • Experience in maintaining and tracking data using various software and databases.
  • Experience in communicating and coordinating access to a secured facility.
  • Experience in reviewing and processing confidential information such as driver's licenses, birth certificates, social security numbers, etc.
