About the position

The Administrative Technician - Payroll role involves providing essential administrative support within the payroll organization at Bath Iron Works. This position requires maintaining both manual and electronic files, performing general office functions, and ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders including managers, supervisors, and union officials. The role demands the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to Managers, Foremen, Supervisors, represented employees, and Union officials.
  • Maintain manual and electronic files related to payroll and administrative tasks.
  • Perform general office support functions including answering phones, taking messages, and data entry.
  • Handle faxing, photocopying, records retention assignments, and mail distribution.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with distractions and multi-tasking demands.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must be highly motivated with a proven ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in various environments including offices, warehouses, and manufacturing settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service or administrative experience is preferred.
