About the position

The Administrator 3 for Otolaryngology at RUSH University Medical Center is responsible for providing leadership to achieve strategic priorities and goals for the department. This role involves developing and implementing long-term strategic and operational plans, maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, and translating departmental goals into actionable business tactics. The Administrator will engage with physicians to support best clinical practices and manage clinical and financial resources effectively, all while exemplifying the mission and values of Rush University Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies industry opportunities and threats and recommends strategies to address them.
  • Initiates proposals for improved market position, patient experience, operational efficiency, and patient safety with input from Department leadership.
  • Monitors key performance indicators, scorecards, patient feedback, and financial reports to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Provides feedback to the Chair and faculty for potential corrective actions.
  • Partners with Department Chair to support provider goals, research study success, and resident/student experience.
  • Tracks and reports physician-driven revenue and expenses.
  • Provides oversight of staff & faculty compliance with ICARE values and departmental procedures.
  • Assists Chair in managing faculty conflicts of interest.
  • Participates in the physician recruitment & pro-forma development process.
  • Oversees all Departmental HR decisions and hiring processes.
  • Monitors staffing metrics including turnover and retention indicators.
  • Structures a supportive work environment for an engaged workforce.
  • Encourages employee understanding of Rush goals and healthcare industry trends.
  • Identifies opportunities for employee professional development and career aspirations.
  • Assures financial performance of the Department is consistent with budget expectations.
  • Prepares and manages the annual operating and capital budget for the Department.
  • Partners with Chair in monitoring patient experience issues and implements practice changes.
  • Monitors and addresses patient experience feedback.
  • Ensures a safe work environment and patient-centered care.
  • Participates in institutional Quality Assurance programs.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Effectively uses EPIC and other systems to achieve goals.
  • Implements policies that reinforce Rush's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Strategic leadership and business plan development experience.
  • Ability to drive departmental growth and market share.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence providers and staff.
  • Ability to develop trust and credibility with staff and providers.
  • Experience in anticipating problems in a complex environment and mitigating impacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Seven years of progressive employment experience in healthcare administration, including direct staff management.
  • Experience in an academic health center.
