About the position

The Maryland Department of Labor is seeking a Research Data Analyst to analyze complex data sets, conduct quantitative and qualitative research, and communicate findings effectively to various audiences. The role involves working with state and local agencies to collect and interpret data related to education and workforce development, particularly focusing on Career and Technical Education (CTE). The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to present data insights clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, including education-related data and labor market information.
  • Clean and combine data from internal and external sources to create comprehensive reports.
  • Set up data reporting systems to meet statutory deadlines.
  • Interpret and analyze collected data to identify trends and prepare reports.
  • Develop visual materials such as charts, tables, and graphs to illustrate data findings.
  • Create data dashboards and visualizations for diverse audiences.
  • Present data visualization tools and findings to stakeholders.
  • Conduct qualitative research through interviews and focus groups.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests and analyze data for additional insights.
  • Assist in preparing recommendations based on research and data analysis.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Five years of administrative staff or professional work experience, with substitutions available for education and military service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in research and data analysis in Career and Technical Education (CTE).
  • Two years of experience in analysis and interpretation of secondary data.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
