About the position

The Administrator II position at King County's Department of Local Services (DLS) is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Engineering Section Manager, County Road Engineer, and Managing Engineers. The role requires a self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Administrator II will handle a variety of tasks including research, program development, policy evaluation, and report preparation, while also supervising a small team of administrative staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage calendars and appointments for the Engineering Section Manager and other engineers.
  • Prepare and summarize meeting agendas, minutes, and related documents.
  • Finalize documents, letters, memos, and reports to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Provide strategic and operational administrative policy improvements.
  • Analyze and evaluate policies and procedures affecting administrative processes.
  • Conduct research in preparation for meetings and prepare necessary reports and materials.
  • Track and communicate deadlines for Section assignments.
  • Provide administrative supervision and performance evaluations to direct reports.
  • Draft Section policies and procedures as directed.
  • Coordinate meetings and organize logistics for various engagements.
  • Handle payroll responsibilities for Engineering Administration.

Requirements

  • Mid-level administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
