About the position

The Administrator in Training (AIT) position at Avamere Crestview of Portland is a full-time role designed for individuals aspiring to become licensed Nursing Home Administrators. The AIT will undergo a comprehensive training program lasting no less than six months, focusing on the day-to-day operations of a skilled nursing facility. This role emphasizes learning various departmental functions, assisting in program development, and ensuring high-quality resident care while adhering to state guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Learn the basic concepts for operating each department within the facility, including Admissions, Business Office, Nursing and Staffing, Activities, Dietary, and Maintenance.
• Assist in the planning, development, organization, implementation, evaluation, and direction of the facility's programs and services.
• Understand the coordination of all facility operations to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to residents.
• Assist in developing and upholding written policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice that govern the operations of the facility.
• Learn how to prepare an annual operating budget, review and interpret monthly financial statements, and make necessary adjustments.
• Develop an understanding of the industry, including community involvement, competitors, and public relations.
• Participate in state and federal surveys of the facility, reviewing deficiencies and developing plans of correction.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or similar coursework.
• Experience working, volunteering, and/or job shadowing within a Skilled Nursing Facility environment.
• Experience and success in a management role, with a clear understanding of popular leadership concepts and techniques.
• Must present a professional appearance and reputation to represent Avamere and its facilities.
