About the position

The Admission Counselor I - Senior Admissions Counselor II position at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is a full-time role focused on serving as the primary point of contact for prospective transfer students, families, and counselors. The role involves promoting the university, discussing admission policies, and assisting with recruitment efforts. The counselor will conduct trend analysis for assigned territories, develop outreach strategies, and participate in recruitment events, all while ensuring excellent customer service and support for prospective students.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for prospective transfer students, families, and counselors.
  • Discuss admission policies, housing, scholarships, and financial aid with prospective students.
  • Conduct trend analysis for assigned territories and formulate action plans based on findings.
  • Collaborate with recruitment staff to integrate analysis results into the university's enrollment plan.
  • Demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in prospect development and yield enhancement activities.
  • Develop and initiate communication strategies to achieve enrollment goals, including outreach via email, phone, and visits.
  • Present information about OSU to prospective students and families, both on and off-campus.
  • Assist with daily office operations, including answering phones and greeting visitors.
  • Participate in the development and execution of recruitment activities and events for prospective students.
  • Travel in-state and out-of-state for recruitment purposes, with overnight stays as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree conferred prior to or upon start date.
  • One or more years of customer service experience with an emphasis on building relationships.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical skills, including knowledge of MS applications.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of related experience, with two years as an OSU admissions counselor.
  • Fluency in Spanish, both verbal and written.
