About the position

The Front-End Web Developer at the University of New Hampshire will support the Undergraduate Admissions Office by leveraging technical expertise in the CRM application, Slate Technolutions. This role involves designing and creating web pages, CRM forms, admissions portals, and HTML emails to enhance user experience across various platforms, ensuring effective recruitment and enrollment of prospective students.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test and implement custom admissions portals in Slate for prospective students and counselors.
  • Build web applications in Slate using web development best practices.
  • Transform app designs into front-end code with HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
  • Create functional prototypes of website components and core website templates and deploy for testing and implementation in Slate and across the admissions websites.
  • Write high-quality, scalable and reusable code that meets industry and university standards for easy reference by other campus developers.
  • Provide training and develop documentation for end-users to reference.
  • Devise and implement solutions to improve functionality and design of Slate portals and Admissions websites based on user feedback.
  • Code custom email marketing campaigns, design graphics and content for digital display.
  • Integrate UTMs and analytics tracking to emails and Slate portals.
  • Build email campaigns and analyze their performance.
  • Adapt established best practices and technologies to develop fresh approaches for online engagement efforts.
  • Work with back-end developers to integrate UI components with APIs and databases.
  • Identify and develop process automation to increase efficiency in day-to-day operations.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues and perform routine performance optimizations.
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for web.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing modern, responsive, and cross-browser-compatible websites using HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency with HTML5, including semantic HTML5 elements.
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass, Less or Stylus.
  • Working knowledge of SEO principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge and experience administering a Slate environment.
  • Experience working in communications and/or marketing in higher education or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Drupal or similar content management systems.
  • Experience using scripting languages to automate recurring manual processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective team-player who can also work independently.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
