About the position

The Admissions Advisor - Regional position at Eastern Michigan University focuses on recruiting prospective students, evaluating admissions applications, and representing the university at various events. This role is integral to the Admissions Recruitment Team, contributing to the overall recruitment strategy and ensuring effective communication of university policies and programs to potential students and their families.

Responsibilities

• Meet with prospective students and parents to inform them of University Admissions policies, procedures, academic programs, and cost of attendance.
• Visit secondary schools and community colleges to engage with counseling and teaching staff, students, and administrators about Eastern Michigan University.
• Review admissions applications and make admissions decisions based on established criteria.
• Deliver presentations about the university to prospective students, parents, and administrators both on and off campus.
• Represent Eastern Michigan University at recruitment fairs across Michigan and other states as required.
• Participate in campus visit programs to enhance recruitment efforts.
• Administer admissions policies and procedures for specific programs or activities.
• Recommend policy or procedural changes to improve efficiency in admissions recruitment and enrollment practices.
• Coordinate enrollment yield efforts, including phone calls, emails, and receptions.
• Prepare departmental reports and assist in their preparation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• One year of admissions-related work experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge and skills in organization, administration, marketing, problem-solving, and planning.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in a related field preferred.
• Familiarity with computers and current software programs.
• Knowledge of EMU's academic programs and student experiences.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
