About the position

The Admissions Counselor - Athletics Liaison at Westminster University is responsible for organizing and executing undergraduate recruitment programs, particularly targeting inter-collegiate and club athletes. This role involves working closely with the Enrollment Management team and campus partners to attract a diverse student population, providing support throughout the admissions process, and promoting the value of a liberal arts education. The position requires on-campus presence with occasional remote work, and involves regular travel and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective student athletes and families during their university search and application process.
• Review and evaluate approximately 400 applications for admission each year.
• Establish and nurture relationships with high school counselors and community-based organizations as part of enrollment strategies.
• Articulate the value of a liberal arts education through presentations and meetings.
• Communicate with coaching staff and athletics director throughout the recruitment cycle.
• Coordinate admissions visits for inter-collegiate and club athletes.
• Support club sports recruitment efforts and coordinate data sharing with coaching staff.
• Engage in campus events and enrollment activities such as Admitted Student Day and New Student Orientation.
• Promote diversity and inclusion in alignment with the university's commitments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.)
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in higher education or related fields.
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new software.
• Effective interviewing and public speaking skills.
• Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Inter-collegiate or sport athletic experience, either personal or professional.
• Experience in liberal arts institutions.
• Experience with customer relations management (CRM) systems in admissions.
• Familiarity with Slate CRM.
• Fluency in Spanish.
