About the position

The Admissions Counselor at Texas Tech University plays a crucial role in representing the university to prospective students and their families. This position involves coordinating recruitment events, counseling applicants on the admissions process, and contributing to the university's enrollment goals. The counselor will work closely with high schools and community colleges to attract quality applicants and ensure a smooth transition for new students into the university's programs.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Texas Tech University to prospective students, parents, staff, and faculty of area high schools and community colleges.
  • Coordinate and contribute to the success of various visit schedules for area high schools and community colleges.
  • Plan assigned recruiting events and programs.
  • Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the university.
  • Manage inquiry appointments for new TTU Online students and assist with major exploration and application processes.
  • Connect newly admitted students to their success team, including student advocates and academic advising.
  • Partner with campus student services to address immediate student needs.
  • Plan and implement an organized schedule to meet with a full caseload of students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal five (5) years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to learn and utilize customer relationship software, Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of admissions policies and procedures, enrollment goals, and university facts.
  • Experience in higher education recruitment and admissions.
  • Sales and territory management experience.
  • Event planning, coordination, and implementation experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Customer service experience.
