In this position, the Admissions Counselor II will conduct presentations at the university, secondary schools, community colleges, and college fairs, effectively communicating the benefits of attending Texas Woman's University. The counselor will also participate in evening and weekend programs, demonstrating a commitment to engaging with potential students during various times. A significant aspect of the role includes recruiting students from Texas high schools and community colleges, which requires building and maintaining relationships with these institutions. The counselor will be responsible for interviewing and counseling prospective students and their families, responding to inquiries through various communication channels, and assisting students in completing their applications. Additionally, the role involves organizing recruitment activities both on-campus and off-campus, ensuring that the university's presence is felt in the community. The Admissions Counselor II will also assist with data entry related to prospective students and perform other duties as requested, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the admissions team.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the university to the general public through scheduled presentations at the university, secondary schools, community/junior colleges, and College Fairs.
  • Participates in several evening and Saturday programs during the fall and spring.
  • Recruits students from Texas high schools and community colleges.
  • Provides leadership for and implements assigned ongoing projects which impact overall recruitment initiatives.
  • Interviews and counsels prospective students and families.
  • Responds to emails, mail, phone and/or in person situations that require admissions guidance and/or counseling.
  • Develops and gives audience-appropriate presentations to University visitors and prospective students.
  • Follows up with prospective students in completing their application and assists them as needed through matriculation.
  • Organizes on-campus and off-campus recruitment activities in a selected geographical area.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with high schools, community colleges and other community programs which impact recruitment.
  • Assists with data entry of prospective students.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience in admissions, preferably in the area of recruitment, application processing, or student services; three years plus experience in University admissions is preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and a safe driving record as required by the university for Driver's Authorization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with student information systems for statistical analysis and other computer technology applicable to functions of position.
  • General knowledge of academic program requirements.
