About the position

The Admissions Counselor at WSU Vancouver plays a crucial role in supporting recruitment and enrollment initiatives for prospective students. This position involves outreach, event planning, and individual counseling to guide applicants through the admissions process. The counselor will collaborate with various recruitment efforts and will be responsible for providing information about academic requirements and degree pathways, as well as assisting with unofficial transfer evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Vancouver campus recruitment and enrollment initiatives through outreach to applicants.
  • Plan and execute recruitment events and programs.
  • Conduct individual admissions counseling appointments for prospective students.
  • Provide information about academic requirements and degree pathways.
  • Assist with unofficial transfer evaluations for students transferring to WSU Vancouver.
  • Collaborate with campus and system-level recruitment efforts.
  • Respond to requests for information from prospective students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • One (1) year of experience directly related to student services.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet departmental driving standards.
  • Ability to travel and work some weekends and evenings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience advising or supporting transfer student populations.
  • Previous student recruitment experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations such as non-traditional, first generation, and low income students.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, English, or other languages.
  • Experience organizing and planning programs and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology including a Customer Relationship Management system (i.e. Slate).
