About the position

The Admissions Counselor at Chadron State College plays a crucial role in recruiting and counseling prospective students throughout the admissions and enrollment process. This position requires extensive travel to various educational institutions and events, including high schools, community colleges, college fairs, job fairs, and other promotional activities within the assigned recruiting territory. The Admissions Counselor will manage their recruiting territory from the office in Chadron, Nebraska, and will be responsible for tracking and reporting student admissions information accurately. In this role, the Admissions Counselor will identify and recruit both campus-based and online prospective students. They will plan and conduct visits to educational institutions and events, providing accurate and complete information about the college and its programs, which include both undergraduate and graduate offerings. The counselor will manage inquiries from potential students, assist them in completing application and enrollment paperwork, and ensure that all communications are handled in a timely and professional manner. The position also involves maintaining a social media presence, developing prospective student publications, and contributing ideas for advertising opportunities. The Admissions Counselor will provide enrollment assistance to new and current students and will be involved in organizing tours, open houses, and orientation sessions for incoming students. This role requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as proficiency in using various software and student information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned recruiting territory from an office in Chadron, Nebraska.
  • Extensive travel to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, job fairs, community events and other promotional events within assigned recruiting territory.
  • Identify and recruit both campus based as well as online prospective students.
  • Plan and conduct visits to high schools, community colleges, college fairs, job fairs, community events and other promotional events.
  • Contact prospective students (leads) and provide accurate and complete information about the Campus and the programs of education offered by CSC.
  • Manage and organize inquiries received for both campus based and online learners.
  • Take inquiry calls from potential students interested in CSC programs and make outbound calls to interested students.
  • Return web inquiries and calls promptly to all potential students.
  • Compose and send personal email and written correspondence to prospective students.
  • Assist applicants in completing application and enrollment paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review EMP queries for status of pre-applicants and applicants.
  • Maintain a social media presence.
  • Assist in developing prospective student publications and promotional displays.
  • Contribute ideas and provide input regarding advertising opportunities.
  • Seek out opportunities for CSC promotional displays in assigned territory.
  • Provide enrollment assistance to new and current students.
  • Provide general information to prospective students, counselors, advisors, and parents about CSC housing, scholarships, health services, tutoring, advising, and other campus offices.
  • Assist with tours, open houses, On-Campus Registration sessions, and New Student Orientation as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience.
  • Experience in college admissions or public relations preferred.
  • Public speaking experience preferred.
  • Computer, database, and analytical skills preferred.
