About the position

The Admissions Counselor at Temple University plays a crucial role in the recruitment and selection of undergraduate, domestic first-year students. This position involves extensive travel to high schools and college fairs, engaging with students, parents, and counselors to promote the university. The counselor is also responsible for evaluating applications and conducting information sessions for prospective students and their families, while supporting various university events.

Responsibilities

• Manage a recruitment territory and conduct extensive travel to high schools and college fairs.
• Engage with students, parents, and high school counselors about Temple University.
• Read and evaluate freshman applications.
• Present information sessions on campus for prospective students and their families.
• Attend and support Open Houses, Experience Temple Days, Regional Receptions, Temple Promise, and Transfer Days.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least one year of admissions related experience.
• Experience with planning, facilitating, and participating in recruitment events.
• Ability to deliver informational presentations to individuals and groups.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and exhibit self-direction and motivation.
• Ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and in groups.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain communication with high school students, parents, and counselors.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
• Ability to travel and transport recruiting materials to offsite locations.
• Ability to lift boxes of promotional material weighing approximately 20 pounds.
