The Admissions Counselor at Palo Alto University plays a crucial role in engaging and supporting prospective students throughout the admissions process. This position involves becoming a subject matter expert in the university's academic programs and assisting in meeting enrollment goals while ensuring a focus on student fit and wellbeing. The role requires a professional and approachable demeanor, as Admissions Counselors represent the university to potential students and provide guidance through various communication channels.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with and support prospective students through the admissions process.
  • Become a subject matter expert in academic programs offered by the university.
  • Assist in meeting enrollment goals ethically and with a focus on student wellbeing.
  • Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, and Zoom.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling appointments to prospective students.
  • Assist students in completing applications and troubleshooting issues that may arise.
  • Provide campus tours as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Associate Director of Outreach in staffing recruitment events.
  • Represent the university at local and national events.
  • Assist in admissions interviews for graduate programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in admissions/enrollment; graduate program experience preferred for Admissions Counselors.
  • 3-5 years of experience in admissions/enrollment for Senior Admissions Counselors; graduate program experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CRM systems, particularly EMP.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
