About the position

The Admissions Event Planner at the University of Vermont is responsible for the comprehensive planning and execution of events and recruitment programs that engage college counselors and support the Admissions Office's recruitment functions. This role involves managing the logistics of both on-campus and off-campus events aimed at enhancing student recruitment efforts, as well as organizing programs specifically for Vermont college counselors. The Program Specialist will serve as the primary contact for Vermont counselors, collaborating closely with territory managers to ensure effective communication and coordination. Additionally, the position entails managing the Green and Gold nomination process, which recognizes outstanding contributions within the university community. In this role, the Admissions Event Planner will also be responsible for answering incoming phone calls to the Undergraduate Admissions Office, providing essential administrative support, and performing various other duties as assigned. The position requires a proactive approach to event planning, with a focus on fostering relationships with both internal constituents across campus and external partners, including hotels, airlines, and local businesses. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective organizational skills and a strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing, ensuring that all events are executed smoothly and meet the needs of the Admissions Office and its stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage events and recruitment programs involving college counselors and Vermont events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a specific related field.
  • One to three years of related experience in event planning or a similar role.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Basic computing skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and database management.
