About the position

The Admissions & JAMP Medical School Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the Joint Admissions Medical Program (JAMP) and managing the admissions process for the School of Medicine. This role involves coordinating summer programs, mentoring students, managing the admissions application process, and ensuring effective communication with applicants and stakeholders. The position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and organize JAMP summer programs including events and curricular activities.
  • Provide schedule for reporting MCAT exam scores to JAMP Medical School Coordinator and Faculty Director.
  • Mentor students attending the SOM's summer program for one year.
  • Supervise Teaching Assistants for the JAMP Summer Program.
  • Follow up with students at least once a semester to inquire about their activities and progress.
  • Answer questions regarding the medical school application process.
  • Attend Pre-JAMP activities and conduct presentations at regional institutions.
  • Plan and organize symposiums for Pre-JAMP students from assigned undergraduate institutions.
  • Manage JAMP screening, selection, and interview processes.
  • Distribute scholarship checks to JAMP medical students.
  • Organize and maintain JAMP medical student group activities.
  • Provide academic status updates on JAMP medical students to the administrative office.
  • Oversee JAMP medical students' involvement in medical school activities.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and end-of-year expense report.
  • Attend JAMP council meetings to discuss policy and program improvements.
  • Maintain communication with other JAMP medical school coordinators.
  • Contribute to marketing and social media efforts for potential applicants.
  • Counsel and advise potential applicants on admissions requirements.
  • Provide contact with applicants seeking assistance and triage requests.
  • Attend regional and national admissions fairs to recruit diverse applicants.
  • Function as a liaison to premedical advisors at various colleges and universities.
  • Assist with processing over 6,000 applications from TMDSAS.
  • Assist with preliminary screening of applications for interview eligibility.
  • Design and evaluate survey materials for applicants and analyze data.
  • Monitor and maintain applicant files and update records in the database.
  • Document fee waivers and communicate with deans regarding exceptions.
  • Assist with student interviewing schedules and ensure prospective applicants' needs are met.
  • Interpret admissions policies and perform other related duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in higher education enrollment management or student affairs preferred.
  • Experience in medical education preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in collaboration and program management.
  • Outstanding oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to respond to high-pressure situations.
  • Understanding of data analysis and data-driven decision making.
  • Ability to discuss sensitive information with students and parents.
