About the position

The Admissions Nurse is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of nursing assistants in a long-term care facility, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This role involves administrative duties, coordination of nursing services, and participation in quality assurance programs, as well as managing resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants according to current rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance of nursing personnel with facility policies and procedures.
  • Review and recommend revisions to department policies and procedure manuals.
  • Plan shifts' services, programs, and activities with nursing staff and support personnel.
  • Maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and ensure compliance with its procedures.
  • Make written and oral reports regarding shift activities as required.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for comprehensive care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the quality assurance program for nursing services.
  • Assist in facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Review and update residents' written discharge plans as necessary.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
  • Complete accident/incident reports and maintain the Daily Census Report.
  • Perform administrative duties including charting and completing medical forms.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri.
  • Experience in long-term care or similar healthcare settings.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and other departments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with quality assurance programs in healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
