About the position

The Adolescent Health Specialist will provide outreach and health education in various areas including family planning, birth control methods, STI prevention, HIV/AIDS education, consent, body image, and sexual orientation. The role involves coordinating outreach to the student body about teen-friendly clinics and assisting in the management of the Teen Clinic Text Hotline, patient registration forms, and scheduling appointments. The specialist will also conduct educational classes on healthy relationships and sexual health topics, ensuring inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional service and administrative functions such as new patient registration and scheduling patient appointments.
  • Learn and work in clinical medical record database.
  • Take Teen Clinic text hotline in a rotating schedule with team members including nights and one weekend per month.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance in all aspects of work related to clinical communications and patient records.
  • Manage internal communications and social media content aimed at Spanish-speaking youth.
  • Connect with community partners to plan and execute events.
  • Create promotional and informational print collateral to increase access to Teen Clinic Services.
  • Conduct education classes on healthy relationships and reproduction.
  • Provide medically accurate sexual health information while maintaining curriculum integrity.
  • Conduct outreach activities with local school districts.
  • Memorize large amounts of information and accurately enter data in various software.
  • Travel overnight for required curriculum trainings and conferences.
  • Develop partnerships with neighboring agencies for workshops in adolescent health.
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with education and clinical staff.
  • Participate in training and staff development workshops.
  • Complete documents for assessment and evaluation of the program.
  • Work closely with other team members to function cohesively.
  • Support Variety Care's accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with experience working with target population or in public health.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Health education experience preferred.
  • Experience with at-risk youth preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced classroom environment.
  • Dynamic facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong technology skills and good record keeping.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to memorize large amounts of information quickly.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • CHES Certification preferred - must be willing to become CHES Certified within the first year of employment.
