About the position

The Adolescent Residential Counselor at Mirror Inc. is responsible for providing programs and services to adolescent clients under the clinical supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. This role involves adhering to policies and regulations while delivering counseling, assessments, and case management to support clients in achieving their treatment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication and coordination with referral sources, client welfare agencies, and parents/guardians.
  • Provide group, individual, and family counseling for clients in an outpatient treatment setting.
  • Assist clients in identifying and resolving problems that hinder their treatment goals.
  • Maintain treatment-related paperwork within the electronic client record.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
  • Assist supervisors with coverage-related issues as necessary.
  • Provide psycho-educational groups focused on addiction-related topics and stress management.
  • Assist in the collection of client fees as necessary for the assigned program.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a four-year accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, substance abuse counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with adolescents in an educational or clinical setting and knowledge of adolescent development required.
  • Licensed substance abuse counselor in the State of Kansas.
  • Licensed Addiction Counselor required; Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor preferred.
  • MSW, LMSW, LSCSW preferred.
  • Obtain continuing education units regarding substance use treatment for adolescents every two years.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with adults and youth, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a team spirit.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification to deliver SB 123 services and assessments desirable.
  • Knowledge in the disease of addiction and various modes of treatment applicable to adolescents and adults.
  • Knowledge of adolescent psychology and development.
