About the position

The Adolescent & Young Adult Social Worker position at the University of Chicago involves providing professional support and addressing straightforward problems related to chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based psychiatric and mental health services to adolescents and young adults, including patient education, counseling, and referrals to additional services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy to adolescents and young adults.
  • Conduct clinical diagnostic evaluations and assessments, including urgent-care/crisis evaluations.
  • Deliver goal-focused, evidence-based, time-limited individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Maintain timely and complete electronic documentation as required.
  • Handle sensitive situations with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Review and interpret federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and ethical codes related to clinical social work.
  • Provide clinical supervision to trainees as needed.
  • Monitor and record client progress according to treatment goals.
  • Refer patients or families to community resources for recovery support and access to services.
  • Perform other related work as necessary.

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Clinical experience with Adolescent & Young Adult psychiatry patients.
  • Psychotherapy experience.
  • LCSW certification.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and ethical codes related to social work.
