About the position
As an Adoption Counselor at the Jacksonville Humane Society, you will play a vital role in connecting pets with loving families and making a significant impact in the lives of animals and the community. This part-time position offers the opportunity to engage with the public in a dynamic and inviting environment, where your primary focus will be on facilitating pet adoptions. You will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages potential adopters to consider adopting a pet, while also providing them with the necessary resources for continued care after adoption. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve interacting with the community, helping customers find their new best friends, and performing lifesaving work for animals in need. The role requires a collaborative approach, as you will work closely with other shelter teams to ensure that all animals are happy and healthy before they go to their new homes. You will also assist with offsite cat transports to PetSmart for adoption events and engage with volunteers at the front desk to answer questions about shelter pets and the adoption process.
