About the position

The Adoption Worker at Carolina Adoption Services is a part-time role focused on providing support and services related to adoption processes. This position involves preparing assessments, offering education and counseling, and maintaining case records while ensuring compliance with agency policies. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including some evening and weekend work, and involves home visits and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare pre-placement assessments (home studies) and home study updates with adoptive couples and individuals.
  • Meet the requirements of the agency's Policies and Procedures for Home study workers.
  • Provide post-adoption/post-placement supervision and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Submit documentation and accurate time sheets on a timely basis.
  • Offer education and counseling services regarding adoption-related issues.
  • Provide child-specific training and community resources to adoptive parents.
  • Maintain case records in accordance with state and agency standards.
  • Participate in periodic Informational Meetings for those interested in international adoption.
  • Work with the Clinical Director to meet all standards and requirements under CAS policies and procedures.
  • Complete annual continuing education requirements and submit training logs quarterly.
  • Provide a minimum of two weeks notice if resigning.
  • Complete all active case assignments and return all materials to CAS.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related area from an accredited school, or a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with two years of experience working directly with children.
  • Bilingual proficiency is preferred.
  • Driver's License is required.
  • Experience in case management and social work, particularly with children, is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social work for at least 1 year is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
