About the position

The West Contra Costa Unified School District is seeking a dedicated Adult Education Virtual GED Prep Teacher specializing in Math and Science, to be taught in Spanish. This position involves assigning and guiding students through their coursework in a virtual classroom setting, focusing on individualized or group instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of adult learners. The teaching hours are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, which includes a half-hour preparation time, making it a total of three hours of paid work each evening. Classes are set to commence on August 27, 2024, and prior to this date, the selected candidate will be required to attend an in-person school orientation and departmental meetings to ensure a smooth start to the academic year. It is essential for applicants to be residents of the Bay Area, as this role requires familiarity with the local educational landscape and community.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and oversee students' work in math and science subjects.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California teaching credential.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, with transcripts as evidence.
  • Current T.B. test results dated within the last year.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Three letters of reference dated within the past two years.
