About the position

As an Adult Protective Services Specialist with the Winchester Department of Social Services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults in the community. This position is dedicated to protecting adults over the age of 60 and those over 18 who are incapacitated from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Your work will involve direct interaction with these individuals and their families, providing support and resources to help them maintain their independence and dignity. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing adult safety and risk through thorough investigations. You will develop tailored care plans that maximize self-sufficiency and ensure that the needs of vulnerable adults are met. This includes scheduling and conducting home visits to monitor safety and well-being, as well as assessing service needs and coordinating referrals to appropriate services. Your proactive approach will encourage participation in services that foster greater independence and provide essential support for caregivers. Additionally, you will be tasked with preparing court reports and affidavits, and you may be required to testify in court regarding your findings and recommendations. Timely and accurate documentation is essential, as you will need to complete all required paperwork in accordance with state and local policies. This position requires a motivated individual who is resilient, organized, and capable of navigating the challenges that come with working in human services.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field, or a Bachelor's Degree in any field with two years of related experience in Social Work
  • Within 90 days of employment, you must have a driving commute within a one-hour timeframe of the City of Winchester limits
