About the position

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Network Design Engineer to join our team in Scottsdale, Arizona. This contract position plays a crucial role in supporting the development of mission-critical systems for national defense. As a Network Design Engineer, you will be involved in creating state-of-the-art technologies for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, which support various branches of the military, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Special Forces, as well as other Federal Government agencies. Your expertise will contribute to the design and planning of network systems that are essential for operational success. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and planning network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. You will deliver specific, detailed information regarding hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools to ensure the most efficient solutions that meet both present and future capacity requirements. Your extensive network knowledge will be vital as you coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with department users and network administrators. You will maintain technical expertise across all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, and gateways. The position requires you to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex problems, exercising independent judgment and initiative on assignments. You will be expected to apply your understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field to perform technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design, ensuring that the solutions you provide are effective and efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan network systems, providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Deliver specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for efficient solutions.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoot problems with department users and network administrators.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.
  • Develop and provide innovative solutions to complex problems using established precedents and policies.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative on assignments, executing projects with little direction.
  • Select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results in network design and implementation.
  • Perform technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and 5+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Subject matter expert in one discipline/field with developing knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories, with expertise in applying technical standards and methodologies.
  • Ability to work on complex problems requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
