About the position

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer will be a key member of the Stanley Engineered Fastening team in Fullerton, CA, responsible for evaluating, developing, documenting, and improving manufacturing processes. This role focuses on optimizing safety, quality, cost, and productivity within existing manufacturing processes while supporting new product launches. The engineer will work closely with various functions to ensure efficient manufacturing processes and will be involved in project management and deployment of production automation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes within North American Engineered Fastening facilities.
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes.
  • Pre-specify processes and cost estimates to support product development.
  • Review operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive operational improvement through the implementation of new and revised processes with a lean approach.
  • Facilitate the implementation of production equipment/tooling and provide technical training.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders on project progress and escalate risks and issues.
  • Support codification of newly developed approaches and methodologies.
  • Develop formal cost justifications for capital expenditures on equipment and technology.
  • Align with and enhance the Lean-led journey of each plant.
  • Collaborate with IT and Operations on project requirements and deliverables.
  • Manage projects focused on production automation and systems.
  • Create and maintain project plans and budgets for all projects.
  • Develop process flow and plant layout requirements.
  • Complete documentation for launching new processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing work experience within manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in Automotive and/or Aerospace preferred.
  • Diverse experience with various manufacturing processes such as Cold Forming, Stamping, Molding, Assembly, Welding, Packaging, Inspection, Distribution, and Sorting.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Solidworks for optimizing layouts.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, robotics, and advanced automation.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization to build consensus and drive decision making.
  • Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and personal commitment.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with root cause problem solving methodologies (5why, Fishbone, 6 Sigma, Toyota Kata, etc.).
  • Knowledge of ERP/MES and other manufacturing systems (JDE, SAP, LX).
  • Basic knowledge of data analytic tools like MS Power Platform, Qlikview, Tableau, Grafana, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Teams.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Project management certification or experience.
