About the position

The Advance Practice Provider | Instructor position at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus involves providing comprehensive patient care on the Urology Inpatient Service. The role includes evaluating and managing patients, coordinating care, and collaborating closely with surgical teams. The position requires rotating weekend and holiday coverage, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and patient education in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients who are candidates for Urology care and/or surgery.
  • Obtain thorough histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate testing and manage patients with post-operative complications.
  • Monitor overall care and provide education about the risks and benefits of surgical procedures.
  • See and evaluate patients in the hospital, providing documentation, assessments, and care plans for inpatient stays and discharge care planning.
  • Perform urologic inpatient responsibilities such as rounding, writing orders, and patient assessments.
  • Triage patient telephone calls and emails, providing consultations as needed.
  • Support and uphold established organizational policies and procedures, participating in quality improvement and patient safety activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master's degree in Nursing or a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician Assistant with prescriptive privileges.
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board and the Medical Review Board.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year experience as an Advance Practice Provider (APP).
  • One year prior experience in a surgical subspecialty or inpatient care.
  • Previous experience in a urologic clinical setting.
