About the position
RWJBH is seeking a per diem Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the orthopedic department at the New Brunswick campus. The APP is responsible for providing rapid response care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment, and management to improve the health status of patients. This role involves working collaboratively within a team to care for surgical and non-surgical orthopedic patients, including those undergoing total joint replacements and orthopedic trauma care.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications, and start IVs.
- Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders, and transcribing orders.
- Develop plans of care for patients in coordination with a multidisciplinary team.
- Document and maintain patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards.
- Examine patients to determine the presence of illness and prescribe treatments as indicated.
- Interview, instruct, and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Issue prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations.
- Order and review appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, and review all lab data and documents.
- Participate in the development of protocols and coordinate nursing and training programs on compliance with policies such as HIPAA and OSHA.
- Suture wounds, incise and drain wounds, and repair lacerations.
Requirements
- Current NJ APN/PA license required
- NCCPA certification required
- CDS required
- DEA required
- BLS required
- ACLS required
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in orthopedic surgery
- Familiarity with billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations
