About the position

The Advanced Analytics and ML Portfolio Manager at General Motors is responsible for managing the workload and calendar of the Insight Factory team, which operates as a Platform as a Service (PaaS) for data scientists and engineers. This role involves ensuring smooth operations, effective communication, and strategic planning within the team and with stakeholders, while also leading educational initiatives and managing project workflows using tools like Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage the workload and calendar for the Insight Factory team.
• Ensure alignment of tasks and deadlines with the capabilities of the tech stack and technical teams' roadmaps.
• Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, representing the complexity and technical aspects of the work.
• Defend the principle of 'Security First' in all communications and planning activities.
• Collaborate with Product Oriented Delivery (POD) teams to understand their roadmaps and technical requirements.
• Create organized plans that align with tech stack capabilities for efficient deployment of solutions.
• Use Jira for ticket management and Jira Service Desk for intake processes.
• Balance management practices to ensure visibility and progress tracking without overwhelming developers.
• Own the overall education approach for the Insight Factory and shape educational content for executive consumption.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• 1.5 years of experience with Production AI or ML solutions
• 1.5 years of Portfolio Management experience
• Proven track record of managing complex portfolio workloads and calendars
• Exceptional ability to stay organized and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong understanding of PaaS platforms and cloud deployment
• Technical proficiency to grasp and communicate the complexity of AI/ML solutions
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to create clear, concise, and engaging presentations and documentation
• Proficiency in using Jira and Jira Service Desk for project and ticket management
• Experience with Confluence for documentation and knowledge sharing
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams and stakeholders
• Experience in leading educational initiatives and creating informative content
