About the position

The Advanced Application Engineer Specialist at 3M is responsible for driving growth through customer collaboration, new application development, and product commercialization. This role involves leveraging technical expertise to create compelling value propositions, coordinating field trials, and delivering customer-focused training. The position emphasizes collaboration with global teams to implement impactful solutions across diverse markets, utilizing advanced technical skills to support external customers and develop new applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to drive growth through customer collaboration, new application development, and new product commercialization.
• Utilize and advance knowledge of technical, product, market, and competitive information.
• Work collaboratively and engage internal and external networks to advance technical platforms.
• Apply advanced technical skills to support external customers and create new commercial positions.
• Broaden application base and develop a fundamental understanding of the application base.
• Identify product modifications or technical changes to enable product sales in new applications.
• Take initiative to develop new applications and provide significant support on products and their applications to customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or related field from an accredited institution.
• Five years of product or application development experience within a semiconductor field.

Nice-to-haves

• PhD in a relevant field.
• Technical expertise in formulation for film coating, wet desmear processes for IC packaging, device engineering, and analytical characterization techniques of polymers including rheology.
• Proven leadership ability to communicate clearly across functions, including lab, manufacturing, and business teams.
• Experience in product and application development including phase-gate commercialization processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, networking, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
