About the position

The Advanced Machine Vision Application Engineer at Zebra is responsible for leveraging extensive engineering skills and industry experience to ensure that Zebra's products and solutions meet high performance standards. This role involves leading the development, validation, testing, and integration of software and hardware products, while providing guidance to junior team members. The position requires significant autonomy in determining objectives and addressing challenges related to product performance in various application scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert and escalation point for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Address key challenges related to the performance of Zebra's products and solutions in specific application scenarios.
  • Evaluate product performance and usability challenges to identify core issues and eliminate problems.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and product management teams to communicate resolutions and ensure fixes are validated for future releases.
  • Initiate technical analyses, planning, and design to develop and propose products/solutions for roadmap consideration.
  • Provide analysis and input on how products/solutions can best meet or exceed customer/partner business requirements.
  • Assist in the planning and analysis of strategic customer projects to ensure effective execution.
  • Ensure appropriate products/features are incorporated to maximize customer benefit and business value.
  • Represent the product management organization in customer meetings and perform application deployment leadership.
  • Proactively engage with product management colleagues to communicate market needs and influence the product portfolio and roadmap.
  • Contribute to the development of technical training and document solution deployment processes as needed.
  • Design and architect system demonstrations for effective representation at internal and external events.
  • Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise and interact with management and senior customer personnel on cross-organizational matters.
  • Serve as advanced Tier 3 technical support for partners/customers and guide junior Application Engineers as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in application engineering.
  • Experience working with fixed industrial scanning and/or machine vision solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • MV solution implementation experience.
  • RFID Solution experience.
  • Experience with Windows OS's such as Win7/Win10.
  • Experience with Linux OS and common Linux toolsets and scripting languages.
  • General understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial automation systems.
  • Certified Vision Professional - basic.
  • Experience with PLC and/or other factory automation equipment integration.
