The Advanced Automation Engineer will be part of the Linde Advanced Operations Services (LAOS) business unit, focusing on developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced automation solutions that enhance sustainability, efficiency, profitability, and reliability in process plants. This role involves collaboration with a multicultural team across various countries and working closely with customers to provide tailored solutions. The engineer will engage in projects involving procedural automation, AI technologies, and Industry 4.0 innovations, while also supporting customer training and continuous improvement of automation solutions.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain advanced automation solutions using Procedural Automation and AI technologies.
  • Work on advanced automation projects involving procedural automation and automatic sequence logic implementation at customer sites.
  • Install and configure Linde image recognition software using edge and cloud computing on the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Identify and develop improvement opportunities in collaboration with customers, estimating potential economic benefits.
  • Support the generation of proposals and present solution concepts to customers.
  • Participate in autonomous operations consulting for customers.
  • Train and support customer personnel in utilizing LAOS solutions.
  • Continuously improve the value generated by LAOS solutions for customers.
  • Participate in the development of IT/OT products and platforms for LAOS.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • More than 2 years of experience with continuous process plants, with automation and process control commissioning/startup experience preferred.
  • Experience in PID loop tuning.
  • Proficiency in computer programming in high-level languages such as Python, VBA, MATLAB, or C.
  • Understanding of IT/OT network architectures, operating systems, and communication protocols like OPC and Modbus.
  • Passion for new technology and understanding of P&IDs, heat & mass balances, and unit operations.
  • Knowledge of Model Predictive Control (MPC), Real Time Optimizers (RTO), and advanced regulatory control.
  • Basic knowledge of control systems (DCS, PLC), historian, edge computing, and cloud computing.
