About the position

The Advanced Care Practitioner (ACP) position at the Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women (MCCCW) in Belfair, WA, is an on-call role responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare to incarcerated women. The ACP will work under the supervision of the Health Services Manager and the Facility Medical Director, providing primary, routine, urgent, and emergent medical care. The role emphasizes patient education, health promotion, and the management of both chronic and acute medical conditions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and DOC policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient services under the supervision of a qualified physician.
  • Deliver primary, routine, urgent, and emergent medical care, including diagnostic, therapeutic, preventative, and health maintenance services.
  • Manage a caseload as assigned and ensure delivery of quality medical services for all patients.
  • Assist with intake assessments as per facility processes.
  • Coordinate with the Facility Medical Director for onsite and offsite services as clinically indicated.
  • Diagnose chronic and acute maladies and determine outcomes.
  • Identify and prescribe appropriate medications and coordinate care with other providers.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings with custody staff per policy guidelines.
  • Ensure effective communication and documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
  • Actively participate in clinic/facility-wide Coordinated Quality Improvement Program (CQIP) meetings and projects.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants, or a valid Washington State RN license with ARNP designation and PMHNP certification.
  • Unrestricted license to practice as a midlevel practitioner and prescribe scheduled drugs.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of working experience as an ARNP or PA-C.
  • Ability to perform basic skills as listed on the Employer's Skills Inventory.
  • Ability to use a computer for patient information management and communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a diverse range of patients and staff.
