About the position

The Advanced Carpenter position at BELFOR involves providing operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients affected by disasters. This role requires overseeing multiple projects, training less skilled carpenters, and ensuring high-quality construction practices. Advanced Carpenters are expected to be knowledgeable about commercial construction materials and practices, and they may have opportunities to advance into Estimator or Project Manager tracks.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize potential problems with the project and timely request additional guidance and assistance
  • Train Carpenter Basic and Carpenter Intermediate level team members in all facets of their job descriptions
  • Answer most questions regarding the project and direct more specific or complicated questions to the appropriate resource
  • Construct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt and airborne contaminants in the working area
  • Construct Metal Framed Walls, Acoustical Ceilings, and repair or replace roofing as required
  • Perform tasks related to flood cutting, salvaging, and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc.
  • Identify different types of insulation, their thickness, and respective R-value
  • Apply learned skills and materials knowledge to daily tasks involving Trim, Doors, Cabinetry, Insulation, Rough Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Roofing materials, and Exterior Siding
  • Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain vehicles in clean, serviceable condition
  • Maintain attention to detail and meet BELFOR standards in safeguarding other people's property
  • Understand customer service principles and practices
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
  • Work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodically
  • Report time worked and equipment and consumables used timely and accurately
  • Attend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as required

Requirements

  • Supervision of unskilled labor, Basic and Intermediate Level BELFOR employees, and occasional sub-contractors in various settings
  • Answer simple questions about the project and defer complex questions to more qualified personnel
  • Maintain equipment used in daily tasks
  • Perform emergency services as needed, such as board-ups and securing buildings against further damage
  • Additional duties as required
