About the position

The Advanced Cloud DevOps Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for developing, evolving, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating integration and deployment processes, and managing infrastructure to support scalability and reliability. This role emphasizes collaboration with development, operations, and security teams to ensure security integration and continuous improvement in processes and tooling. The engineer will leverage cloud solutions to enhance workflow efficiencies and support the implementation of a Platform as a Service (PaaS) in the Cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evolve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and frequent releases by project teams.
  • Automate and manage infrastructure provisioning and configuration to support scalability and reliability.
  • Implement security automated measures at every stage of the software development lifecycle to prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with development, operations, and security teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility.
  • Write scripts and code to automate processes and integrate various systems and tools.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve processes, tooling, and overall system performance and security.
  • Leverage cloud solutions for increased workflow efficiencies and scalable virtualized test environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public (AWS, Azure), private (Nutanix, GovCloud), and mixed cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies such as GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Knowledge of IT security practices including encryption, certificates, key management, and patch management.
  • Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift.
