About the position

The Advanced EMT position at Acadian Ambulance involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced and basic life support care to the sick and injured. The role requires adherence to local, state, national, and company standards of practice while ensuring safe transportation of patients to medical facilities. The Advanced EMT is responsible for patient assessment, documentation, equipment maintenance, and effective communication with medical personnel and patients.

Responsibilities

• Conducts careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administers basic and advanced life support care in accordance with approved protocols.
• Provides safe and efficient transport of patients in the ambulance.
• Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure readiness.
• Responsible for the proper use and knowledge of ambulance equipment.
• Operates the ambulance safely and efficiently, following company driving guidelines.
• Attends mandatory meetings and completes assigned station duties.
• Orders supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
• Completes all required company reports and logs.
• Precepts new employees and EMT students if approved as a preceptor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National and/or State certification as an Advanced EMT.
• Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
• Current and valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of company protocols and operational procedures.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in various conditions.
