About the position

The Advanced EMT position at The Medical Center at Bowling Green involves performing and assisting with the assessment, management, and transport of patients who are ill or injured. This role operates under the supervision of medical control and requires adherence to established protocols and guidelines. The position is full-time, primarily during the day shift, and involves critical patient care responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine the appropriate level of care needed.
• Initiate proper courses of action such as ALS response or rapid transport.
• Provide Basic Life Support in critical situations, including airway management and CPR.
• Perform trauma care, including bleeding control and immobilization.
• Use, clean, and replenish patient care supplies and equipment according to guidelines.
• Adhere to infection control and personal protective equipment protocols.
• Operate company vehicles safely and conduct maintenance checks.
• Document patient demographic data, assessment findings, and treatments performed.
• Maintain department buildings, vehicles, and equipment according to guidelines.
• Assist with department projects and work additional shifts as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous pre-hospital or clinical patient care experience is preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Kentucky Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification required.
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification as required by Kentucky Board of EMS.
• Valid driver's license required.
