About the position

The Advanced EMT position at Acadian Ambulance involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced and basic life support care and transportation for sick and injured patients. The role requires adherence to local, state, national, and company standards of practice, ensuring patient safety and effective communication with medical personnel during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administer basic and advanced life support care in accordance with approved protocols.
• Provide safe and efficient transport of patients in the ambulance to medical facilities.
• Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure readiness.
• Ensure the ambulance and equipment are returned to serviceable condition after transport.
• Report needed repairs to maintenance departments and supervisors.
• Control the patient's surroundings to minimize danger in emergencies.
• Drive the ambulance safely and efficiently, following company guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete assigned station duties.
• Order supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
• Precept new employees and EMT students if approved as a preceptor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National and/or State certification as an Advanced EMT.
• Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
• Valid state-issued driver's license appropriate for the role.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of company protocols and operational procedures.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in various conditions.
