About the position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing timely and efficient pre-hospital advanced and basic life support care and transportation for the sick and injured. This role requires adherence to local, state, national, and Acadian Ambulance standards of practice, ensuring patient safety and effective communication with medical personnel during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness or injury.
• Administer prompt and efficient basic and advanced life support care within the limits of licensure or certification.
• Provide safe and efficient transport of patients in the ambulance to medical facilities.
• Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present and in working order.
• Drive the ambulance in a safe and efficient manner, following company driving guidelines.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and complete assigned station duties.
• Order supplies and equipment to replenish station and ambulance inventories as needed.
• Precept new employees and EMT students as an approved preceptor, if applicable.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or National and/or State certification as an Advanced EMT.
• Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association.
• Current and valid state-issued driver's license (equivalent of a Louisiana Class 'D' driver's license).
• Ability to read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and patients.
• Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety regulations.
