About the position

The Advanced IT Security Specialist at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for developing and maintaining security documentation, conducting system audits, and ensuring compliance with security policies. This role requires a strong understanding of security assessment tools and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position is critical in supporting the security of advanced defense technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop System Security Plans (SSP) and supporting Assessment and Authorization documentation such as Security Assessment Reports, SCTMs, and POA&Ms.
  • Utilize eMASS and Service NOW (SNOW) for risk management and compliance automation.
  • Employ various system security assessment/hardening tools like SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, and ACAS/Nessus.
  • Conduct weekly system audit reviews and media reviews, and manage hardware/software configurations.
  • Execute security testing and evaluation to ensure proper implementation of security controls.
  • Support the assessment and mitigation of vulnerabilities throughout a system's life cycle.
  • Conduct IA security education training for system users on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Perform incident response and cleanup actions as necessary according to company or customer directions.
  • Ensure systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with internal security policies and procedures outlined in the SSP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance at the time of hire.
  • Experience developing System Security Plans (SSP) and supporting documentation.
  • Experience with risk management and compliance automation tools like eMASS and Service NOW (SNOW).
  • Proficiency with system security assessment/hardening tools such as SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, and ACAS/Nessus.
  • Trained and proficient in Assured File Transfer (AFT) procedures.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.
  • DoD 8570 or 8140 Certification meeting IAM Level II (e.g., CISSP, CAP).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NISPOM-DAAPM, NIST SP 800-53, and NIST 800-171.
