About the position

The Advanced Journeyman Electrician position at Weyerhaeuser's Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products Mill is designed for experienced electricians who possess a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems and equipment. The role focuses on the safe repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of high-tech manufacturing equipment, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of the plant's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize with the general plant reliability and maintenance plan and responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of electricians and millwrights to deliver preventative and routine maintenance.
  • Assist other skilled workers in repairs and projects by providing necessary tools and parts.
  • Design layout and installation of basic electrical controls.
  • Perform basic industrial electrical construction based on NFPA 70 National Electric Code, including layout, cutting, bending, and threading conduit, and sizing conductors and overcurrent devices.
  • Apply new craft knowledge in daily work as learned from training assignments.
  • Safely repair and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance responsibilities.
  • Support the goals and objectives of the entire maintenance team.
  • Perform basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Demonstrate self-starter abilities to work with and without direct supervision.
  • Utilize Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills including Maintenance Management Software, MS Office, Email, and web-based programs.
  • Manage program files as documented in file management SOPs.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical equipment, processes, and techniques.
  • Experience in safely repairing, modifying, installing, and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of NEC and general electrical systems including motor starters and power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC5 and/or Control Logix.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumentation and electronics.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills including Maintenance Management Software and MS Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in wood products or engineered wood products industry.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
