About the position

The Advanced Lead Design Engineer - Hardware Owner is a mid-career engineering role within GE Aerospace's Production Technologies team. This position focuses on owning all engineering functions related to the production of Commercial and Aero-derivative High Pressure Turbine Airfoils. The role emphasizes improving the producibility of turbine airfoils, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and utilizing SQDC to improve supply chain health and product quality to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects, with guidance from senior engineering resources.
  • Own hardware and projects related to HPT turbine airfoils.
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and industry experts.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites at least twice a year to gain practical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Execute engineering analysis and evaluation to improve manufacturability and technical robustness of components.
  • Challenge entrenched processes and methodologies to recommend improvements.
  • Utilize engineering and manufacturing knowledge to execute technically complex projects under mentorship.
  • Lead technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with experts.
  • Support repair development, producibility improvements, hardware delivery, and vendor qualifications.
  • Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in design of aviation components.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of Aerospace components.
  • Flexible and friendly approach to teamwork.
  • Experience with Ansys and Unigraphics.
  • Certification in ASME Y14 or practical experience with GD&T.
  • Interest in being a self-starter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
