About the position
The Advanced Lead Engineer - Thermal Systems Design Engineer role focuses on the design and analysis of thermal systems, specifically in hot-section component cooling designs for the XA100 engine. The position involves establishing aero thermal design requirements, performing thermal analysis, and ensuring that designs meet technical and program requirements. The engineer will work closely with stakeholders and communicate technical challenges and results to the product team.
Responsibilities
- Execute the design and analysis of assigned cooled components using engineering principles and internal practices.
- Perform thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.
- Conduct trade studies to define and optimize system design within constraints.
- Build knowledge of relevant physics and how design components interact within the larger system.
- Ensure secondary flow system definition accurately represents component characteristics.
- Understand system design margin requirements and risks, identifying potential abatements.
- Balance design, cost, lifecycle support, and customer requirements in overall system design.
- Contribute to and present at technical and design reviews.
- Document and communicate results of technical data generated.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in disciplinary engineering and science.
- Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a US security clearance.
