About the position

The Thermal Systems Design Engineer role focuses on the design and analysis of cooling systems for hot-section components within turbine engines. This position involves establishing thermal design requirements, performing thermal analysis, and ensuring that designs meet technical and program specifications. The engineer will collaborate with stakeholders and communicate technical challenges and results effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design and analysis of assigned cooled components using engineering principles and internal practices.
  • Perform thermal analysis using finite element analysis (FEA) and/or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.
  • Conduct trade studies to define and optimize system design within constraints.
  • Build knowledge of relevant physics and how design components or subsystems interact within the larger system.
  • Ensure secondary flow system definition accurately represents component characteristics.
  • Understand system design margin requirements and identify potential risk abatements.
  • Contribute to and present at technical and design reviews.
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated.
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects consistent with engineering policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in disciplinary engineering and science.
  • Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a US security clearance.
